Califonia sports here in last years news

San Diego's Ryan Levinson and UCSD's Shlomo Lipetz. http://www.dsalita.com/ boxer in Brooklyn ranked No 11 . Californian Alex Baskin can run. The picture in the http://starbulletin.com/2004/12/13/news/story2.html Hawaii Star Bulletin was not as energetic as the one in the local San Diego Jewish Journal (courtesy of the US Army, but not on the SDJ web-site.) Here's the US Army photo, which had a much-enlarged version in my local paper: http://www.25idl.army.mil/Deployment/OEF%20Afghanistan/Deployment/13Dec04pictures.htm 2nd down, on left 1st Lt. Mike Baskin picks up speed as he nears the finish line at the first ever Honolulu Marathon in Afghanistan Dec. 12 at Forward Operating Base Ripley, north of Kandahar. Baskin won the marathon in a time of 3 hours, 12 minutes, 16 seconds. On page 14 of the March 2005 SD Jewish Journal: The former bat mitzvah at Temple Adat Shalom and current officer in the US Army won the first marathon in Afghanistan's history. Maryland native, Basketball player Tamir Goodman is gracious at winning and at losing. http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:LaBq-OSDZwMJ:info.jpost.com/C003/Supplements/ga/art.00.html+%22Tamir+Goodman%22+Israel&hl=en Though slightly more alert and up-tempo than he was after the all-star game, the shaggy stubble of the Omer period (between Pessah and Shavuot) is the only tangible sign that it’s a different week. He lounges on the same balcony chair with the same kippa perched on his head as he says, ’Nothing has changed with me between last week and this week. I’m going to go to practice and work just as hard as I did last week.’ Maccabi Tel Aviv head coach David Blatt, who decided to sign Goodman, doesn’t doubt it. ’He’s an honest, pure kid. No smoke and mirrors. No phoniness. Tamir’s a real person.’
